Ride the free shuttle to Silver Strand Beach or to downtown Coronado Village! This shuttle operates every hour on the hour from 9am to 9pm, and runs every 30 minutes from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

2. Swimming 

Enjoy taking a dip in one of the property’s 3 heated pools! There is a children’s pool that is 3 1/2 feet deep around the edges and 4 1/2 feet deep in the center. Perfect for the kiddos! There is also a family pool and hot tub as well as an adults only pool and hot tub.  The hotel also features poolside activities such as an oversized Connect Four game, chess, as well as Ping Pong. Take advantage of the poolside concierge service which offers families complimentary treats and services such as Italian ice, frozen grape kabobs, chilled hand towels as well as sunscreen spritzes. 1. Silver Strand State Beach

Silver Strand State Beach is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel by way of a pedestrian underpass giving guests direct access to this incredible beach. Bellmans and valet attendants are also available to bring guests to and from the beach in the golf cart shuttles. Perfect for tired feet! There are also beach chairs, towels, beach toys and boogie boards available for your enjoyment! Silver Strand State Beach has beaches on both the Pacific Ocean as well as San Diego Bay, however, the water in the Bay is generally warmer and more calm which is perfect for families. Little ones will love digging for moon snail shells, cockle shells, and even sand dollars!

2. Coronado Ferry Landing

The Coronado Ferry Landing has so much to offer visiting families. There are plenty of restaurants including cupcake and ice cream shops which are sure to be a hit with the kids!  There are also boutiques to browse as well as rentals for bikes, surreys, paddleboards and kayaks. Ride the ferry into downtown San Diego and enjoy the sights and activities the city has to offer. Kids under 3 ride for free!

3. San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo is a must see if you are staying at The Loews Coronado Bay!  It is a short drive and you won’t want to miss this incredible zoo. This zoo was voted #1 zoo in the world and features over 3700 animals. Phew! That’s a lot of animals to see! Consider taking a 30 minute narrated tour of the zoo on a double decker bus which will give families a great overview of the whole zoo. 

4. SeaWorld San Diego

SeaWorld SanDiego is another unbeatable family activity that will please all age levels.  There are rides, shows, performances, animal encounters and more! The Dolphin Days performance features Bottlenose Dolphins dipping down and then flying high above the water. The Dolphin Encounter allows you to get up close and personal and meet, feed and learn to communicate with the dolphins led by a trainer.

5. Living Coast Discovery Center

Guests of Loews will have access to some exclusive experiences at The Living Coast Discovery Center due to the hotel’s partnership with the Discovery Center. Exclusive opportunities include discounted admission, access to the Go Wild! Family VVIP Interactive Wildlife Encounters that are not available to the general public, as well as access to the Go Wild! Kids Program. This program features a variety of different coastal animal activities and encounters depending on the days of the week.       Oh we just love this place. It was where we stayed 40 years ago on my first trip to the West and we still stay there! You know they say it’s haunted?

    The bike rentals are great for the whole family. The island is pretty much flat so it’s easy to get around.
