So we decided to do some research and provide a list of unique and fun things to do in the Salt Lake City area for families with kiddos, toddlers, and babies!

Discovery center fun.

Scales And Tales In Salt Lake City

Scales and Tales is an awesome exhibit and discovery center full of reptiles and other unique animals. It is not your typical zoo! There are snakes, spiders, and lizards…oh my! You can choose to go to their showroom which is open to the public or you can schedule a special show experience. Make sure to follow them on Instagram @scalesandtailsutah for photos and updates of all their creatures.

Explore a giant crater or ice castles.

Homestead Crater Natural Wonder In Salt Lake City

Just about an hour outside of Salt Lake City is the Homestead Resort, which is a perfect getaway for the entire family. The resort is perfect for relaxing or exploring as it offers kid-friendly indoor and outdoor pools, and hot tubs for a good soak; and the most iconic swimming option of the resort is the Homestead Crater. “The Crater is a geothermal spring, hidden within a 55-foot tall, beehive-shaped limestone rock located on the Homestead property.” The water is a comfortable 90-96 degrees (F) and the crater is the only warm water scuba diving destination in the US!

If you’re staying at Homestead in the winter, make sure to check out the Ice Castles and have lunch at Fanny’s. The kids will love how majestic (and cold!) the frozen castles are! Did we mention that the resort, in general, is super baby/kid-friendly? Check out some of the guest stories and follow them on Instagram @homesteadresort_utah to see all the happy families that have traveled there!

Ride the trolley and take in the sights.

Unique Ways To Explore Salt Lake City With Kids

Let’s face it, kids can only walk so far and so much. So if your littles start to complain about walking Salt Lake City, then it’s time to hop on the trolley and explore the city in a replica streetcar. Your guide will narrate the tour and you’ll see all the historic landmarks! We think this is a good idea when baby is napping in the front pack or baby carrier too. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the tour.

Professional sports fun.

Unique Ways To Explore Salt Lake City With Kids

Take your crew to a Real Salt Lake Utah Royals football (hint, hint…soccer) game. The Salt Lake City soccer team is part of the MLS league, so you’ll be watching super professional soccer. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon! Don’t forget to swing by the team store to pick up some team swag. It will be a nice way to remember your SLC trip.
