It’s no surprise that when people need practically anything, and especially if they need it quickly, they shop on Amazon. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to save on Amazon and earn cash back. While signing up for Amazon Prime is our #1 suggestion, there are also other ways to save money without being an Amazon Prime Member.

Here’s our full list of tips for how to save on Amazon.

Become an Amazon Prime Member

Signing up to become an Amazon Prime Member is the #1 thing you can do to save on Amazon. It costs $139 to sign up for a full year’s membership and members can cancel at any time. Some, but definitely not all, money-saving benefits of becoming an Amazon Prime member include:

  • Free two-day shipping on Prime items (some items qualify for free 1-day or same-day shipping)
  • Option to earn Amazon credit by delaying shipping
  • Free 1-hour pickup or 2-hour grocery delivery

Students can save on Amazon by signing up for Amazon Prime Student which is considerably cheaper in price yet offers a multitude of savings including significant discounts on subscriptions like Calm, GrubHub, Prime Video, Kindle Unlimted, and more. Prime Student includes a 6-month free trial and then costs $59 for a full year’s membership.

Subscribe & save on recurring purchases

Many items on Amazon are available for one-time Amazon purchases, or buyers can choose to ‘Subscribe & Save’ for 5-15% off. Some savings only apply for orders that include 5 or more products in one auto-delivery order. For regular purchases like home goods, health items, grocery items, and more, choosing to subscribe and save on these products can save you money on Amazon in the long run.

Click through the deals header

Amazon features a header of deals that currently includes ‘Today’s Deals,’ ‘Coupons,’ ‘Renewed Deals,’ ‘Outlet,’ ‘Warehouse Deals,’ and ‘Treasure Truck.’ Each of these tabs offers savings that you don’t want to miss. Here’s a breakdown of each of the 6 tabs:

Today’s Deals

Every day Amazon has a large list of products they feature under their ‘Today’s Deals’ tab. These are also known as ‘Lightning Deals.’ Filter by ‘Upcoming’ to see sale items with ‘Prime early access.’ There are also ‘Prime Exclusive Deals’ that only Amazon Prime Members can view.

Coupons

The Coupons tab shows a huge list of products that are eligible for Amazon coupons. Below each product is a ‘Clip Coupon’ button that will provide dollar or percent discounts on each item. There’s also a search bar where you can look for coupons for specific brands, so you can save time and money.

Renewed Deals

Amazon Renewed showcases deals on used products that have been inspected and tested to make sure they work like new. Most discounted products are electronics like headphones, robot vacuums, laptops, and more.

Outlet

Just like a good outlet store, the Amazon Outlet is a place to find discounts on overstock items. These items include just about everything from clothing to home goods to tools and more. You’ll even see a selection of ‘Premium Brands’ which can be on sale for 50% off, if not more!

Warehouse Deals

Similar to Renewed Deals, the Amazon Warehouse features products that are “quality used, pre-owned, or open box products.” Each product is inspected, given a condition (e.g. Used – Very Good), and sold at a discounted price.

Treasure Truck

Treasure Truck offers new and trending products to customers with a surprise. The surprise is you don’t know when you will be offered a Treasure Truck product! Amazon sends a text when a product is available at a discounted price, then you have the chance to grab it before the item sells out. You don’t know what the product will be, but you can get something pretty cool at a low price.

Opt-in for no-rush shipping

By opting in for Amazon’s No-Rush Shipping and receiving your order a little later, Amazon will “either apply a discount immediately to your current order or automatically apply a reward to your account once your order ships.” This is a great way to save on Amazon if you’re not in a hurry to get your items or if you’re good at planning ahead. Think birthday or Christmas gifts!

Set up price alerts and check price changes

Creating a free account with camelcamelcamel.com will help you track price drops for products on your wish list. Through this website, you can set up price alerts and even upload your Amazon Wish List to track price changes. There’s also a free browser extension that you can click on when you’re looking at an Amazon product; the extension will show you price changes over time so you can gauge if it’s the time to buy or the time to wait. Again, great for those who love to plan!

Check price changes for your ‘Saved for Later’ items

Another way to save on Amazon is to check price change notifications for items in the ‘Saved for Later’ cart. These notifications are convenient because you can see what products have decreased in price and what products have increased in price.

Get an Amazon credit card

The Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card offers a whole slew of savings including:

  • 5% cash back at Amazon.com and Whole Foods
  • 2% cash back at restaurants, gas stations, and drugstores
  • 1% cash back on other purchases

This is an easy way to save on Amazon by getting cash back on all purchases—even purchases outside of Amazon. There are other credit cards available like the Prime Store Card and Amazon Prime Secured Card but the Rewards Visa Card definitely offers the most savings.

Amazon Prime Day

Last but not least, Amazon Prime Day is a HUGE way to save on Amazon but it only comes around once a year and you must be an Amazon Prime Member to partake. Technically a 2-day event, Amazon discounts a ton of products at extremely low prices while supplies last. Similar to Black Friday, this is a great time to get more expensive or large items on sale.

As you can see, there are many ways to save on Amazon; even Amazon offers plenty of cash-saving options right on its website. By utilizing these offers such as becoming an Amazon Prime Member and signing up for the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card, a lot of money can be saved on Amazon.
