Baby Trend has been at it for over 30 years, and this baby gear manufacturing company is responsible for some pretty amazing products! A generally more affordable brand, they’ve come up with all kinds of great car seats, high chairs, playards and more over the years. They are also stroller gurus; Baby Trend was the first to create that clever Sit N’ Stand stroller that lets you tote around a baby and a toddler at the same time, as well as a stroller that could safely attach to an infant car seat (the Snap-N-Go—thank you Baby Trend!).

We are going to take a close look at the three different Baby Trend double jogging stroller models that are currently available in the US (the Expedition, Navigator, and Navigator Lite) and give you all of the pros and cons of each. If you are someone who wants to be active with two little ones in tow, read on!

Review Of The Baby Trend Double Jogging Stroller

The Expedition: Baby Trend Double Jogging Stroller

Price: $199 — lowest price point of the three Baby Trend double jogging strollers.

Color Options:

  • Green Tea (gray, green and black)
  • Griffin (black)
  • Elixer (gray and black)
  • Millenium (black, gray, and red)
  • Centennial (red and black)
  • Carbon (green and black).

Specs:

The Expedition is made for kiddos starting at 6 months old (it doesn’t accommodate any car seats) and will hold up to 50 pounds in each seat; the height max is 42”, which could be a tall three-year-old or an average four-year-old. It weighs just over 30 lbs. The quality is lower compared to other brands , but it’s much more affordable.

Pros:

  • Front Swivel Wheel: The Expedition has a single front bicycle-style swivel wheel, giving you better agility, and you can lock it into position if you’re going fast and want the extra stability. It turns and maneuvers well and is overall a great stroller for the low price point.
  • Reclining Seats: The seats can recline to any number of settings (including nearly flat) and the five point safety harnesses keep your little ones safely contained.
  • Console: The parent console is among the best we’ve seen on any Baby Trend double jogging stroller. It has two cup holders and a little storage bin with a cover which is perfect for small items like a keys, phone, and sunglasses.
  • Folding & Unfolding: The Expedition is really easy to fold and unfold, and when it’s closed up it stays standing balanced upright. You can pop the big rear wheels off if you want to make it more compact for travel and storage.

Cons:

  • Wheel Wobbling: Many jogging parents complain about the front wheel wobbling, the bumpy ride that comes with a lack of any suspension system, and the stroller occasionally veering off course.
  • Canopy: There is only one overhead canopy covering the seats, and this is a drawback if you have one child trying to nap while the other wants to see what’s going on. Also, the canopy doesn’t extend very far out, so it lacks good protection from the elements.
  • Brake System: There are two brakes, one on each back wheel, so you have to remember to set both sides, and they’re a little difficult to set and release.  Don’t try to use your bare foot, it hurts!
  • Storage Basket: The storage basket is good sized, but you’re only supposed to put five pounds of weight in there and let’s face it, what mama is jogging with only 5 lbs of stuff?! There is also a divider running down the middle which can be inconvenient for larger items.
  • Push Bar: You can’t adjust the height, so you might find the stroller a little uncomfortable to push if you are below or above average height.

The Double Navigator: Baby Trend Double Jogging Stroller

Price: $229 — middle price point of the three Baby Trend double jogging strollers.

Color Options:

  • Vanguard (orange and gray)
  • Tropic (aqua and black)

Specs:

The Navigator can hold two Baby Trend-only infant car seats, so you can use it from the get go! However, Baby Trend recommends waiting until your passengers are both at least six months old before doing any jogging with it. The weight limit is 50 pounds per seat with a height max of 42”. This stroller weighs a whopping 43 lbs., making it difficult to lift into your car or carry up the stairs.

Pros:

  • Two Front Swivel Wheels: Many Navigator users feel that having two front wheels adds some stability and brings down the front wheel wobble factor. It does also add some bulkiness, but the advantages we mentioned will outweigh the disadvantages for many people.
  • Canopy: The Navigator has two canopies, one above each seat, so that you’ll be able to accommodate if your kiddos aren’t on the same nap schedule!
  • Reclining Seats: You’ll find the same well-designed seats and five point safety harness across all of the Baby Trend models we review in this article. The seats in this model have more padding than in the Expedition, giving more comfort to those little toddler bums.
  • Consoles: The parent console gets even better in this double stroller! Not only do you get the two cup holders, you also get the ability to plug your phone into the built in speakers on the covered storage bin! The Navigator also gives each child two cup holders and a handy little tray for snacks and all of those little toys that they are sure to drop and lose, lol!
  • Folding & Unfolding: The Navigator has the same easy-to-operate trigger system as the Expedition.

Cons:

  • Bumpy Ride: Without any suspension system, this affordable double stroller offers a bumpier ride than many other pricier brands.
  • Brake System: As with the Expedition, the Navigator has two rear brakes that both need to be set for the stroller to be locked into place. They are a bit difficult to set and release, especially if you don’t have good shoes on.
  • Storage Basket: Same less-than-ideal basket as the Expedition has.
  • Push Bar: Again, no option to make it higher or lower, which some may find inconvenient or uncomfortable.

The Double Navigator Lite: Baby Trend Double Jogging Stroller

Price: $249 — highest price point of the three Baby Trend double jogging strollers.

Color Options:

  • Europa (gray and black)
  • Lincoln (lime green and black)
  • Candy Apple (red and black)

Specs:

The Navigator Lite is almost identical to the Navigator, with one glaring exception: it has only one front swivel wheel instead of two. It has the same heavy weight of 43 lbs., but it’s less bulky than the Navigator because of this feature. It also holds two Baby Trend-only infant car seats, and the weight limit is again 50 pounds per seat with a height max of 42”.

Pros:

  • Canopy: The Navigator Lite has that helpful two-canopy feature.
  • Reclining Seats: You’ll find the same well-designed seats with a little extra padding, and the same great five point safety harness.
  • Consoles: Like the Navigator, you’ll get that added speaker plug-in bonus along with the amazing features that come standard! The kiddos will again get their little cup holder/tray situation as well.
  • Folding & Unfolding: Users again appreciate the easy-to-work trigger system.

Cons:

  • Suspension System: Same problem across all Baby Trend models—those using the stroller on bumpy terrain, or for fast jogging, noticed that the kiddos got jostled around more than they would like.
  • Brake System: Still lacking ease as far as setting and releasing each back wheel goes, and still not doable without shoes on.
  • Storage Basket: Same less-than-ideal basket we discussed above; if only they would find a way to remove that center divider and make it a little stronger!
  • Push Bar: Again, not adjustable and therefore not necessarily comfortable to push for those outside the average height range.

Summary:

The bottom line? Baby Trend double jogging strollers are great bang for the buck. Other popular (but pricier) double strollers (think Baby Jogger’s summit X3, the Bob Revolution Flex, and the Thule Urban Glide) are built with higher quality materials and would be better choices for serious runners or for those looking to make their stroller last for a long time.

However, if you don’t need these qualities, you’ll likely find that any of these Baby Trend models are excellent choices for an affordable double stroller. Baby Trend also has a great reputation for customer service, so if you do run into problems you’ll likely be able to get a resolution with a phone call or email to their support team!
