This mattress is designed to be used from birth through the toddler years by flipping it as your child ages:

• Infant Side (The side pictured): Marked as the "Ultra Firm Side." This uses medical-grade, high-density foam to provide the flat, rigid support necessary to prevent SIDS and keep infants safe.
