“This was our second BabyQuip rental. Both the equipment condition and the communication/handoff fell short. Equipment • The car seat had no padding on the straps, making it uncomfortable for our toddler. • The stroller arrived heavily stained and had noticeable resistance when maneuvering (unclear whether this was a mechanical issue with the stroller itself). Communication & identification: We never received a name. Throughout the texting—including when the gear was delivered to OAK—we believed we were communicating with Hannah, the registered provider. Only right before he walked inside did he text, “Oh this is Hannah’s husband!” This lack of clear identification felt unprofessional. Handoff logistics at SFO: We were returning a rental car at the National facility and needed to pick up the car seat and stroller. Instead of meeting us near the National counters or offering a convenient halfway point inside the building, we were directed to the Kiss & Fly lot on the ground floor on the opposite side of the structure. When we asked how to handle the exchange with our toddler, the response was: “Usually one person drives the car in and another walks in with kids.” I explained that we needed to return the car first because we could not drive to the return area with our toddler without the car seat. The reply was: “Well I guess I’ll wait out here until you’re done then.” That approach does not work for a family of three. It would have required either my husband returning the car and handling the luggage alone, or me waiting alone with our toddler plus the gear. A short walk over to meet us near the rental counters (or a clear halfway point) would have been far more practical. The tone felt dismissive rather than helpful. We completed the exchange, but the combination of unclear communication, subpar equipment, and inflexible logistics made the experience more stressful than it needed to be.”
